For starters, apologies to anyone who was disturbed by the last image... There's a whole discussion that could be had about suicide, and those who have had it affect their lives... It sucks, and if you're ever in a position where you're considering it, the best advice that I can give is "Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem".

In this poor bugger's case though... I mean.. Zombie Apocalypse and all... That's more of a permanent problem... But again, that being said, June and I both agreed that if you take down at least 2 zombies before you get turned yourself, you've actually achieved a positive balance. Unless you become some badass super zombie and you only killed off chump zombies. In which case... Best not to think about it ;)

Portions were rewritten, but especially the last lines... He started out saying "Being a One couldn't be that bad...", but after he got his hopes up, I couldn't see him being in a position to make a wise crack...

Forum is still needing some love, if you've got some time, feel free to check it out... There's a question thread on there (and a poll about your favourite TOGM character!) that will probably be easier to follow than comments on the comic.

Anyways, hope you guys have a great weekend, and that you enjoyed today's TOGM...

Hi there again!

Well here we are back at the Mysterious Vault™! John's found quite the discovery there! I mean, look at all that FOOD!

I've been working on drawing scarier zombies and now corpses. I REALLY don't like dead people, or at least dead looking people .. so it's kind of hard.

Any way, I tried my hand at some animation this week! I was fun, annoying, gruelling and addicting! I had to promise myself that I would stop working on it and do this comic today. :P I've been learning Adobe Premiere. It's EXCITING!

I hope to show you all what I've been doing soon!

PS -- Sorry about John's pose in panel 2... he's supposed to be walking... I really need to practice drawing people walking ....

Ive seen way worse in other Zombie comics but man that one I did NOT see coming in a TOGM page.

Book 1 began with John in a very cushy, almost safe position... We saw that start to erode a little bit as the book went on... It seemed like a good time to show some of the harshness outside Beth's walls...

wow... i just...

i am at a loss for them.

Apparently so is John... I prefer to avoid direct swearing as much as possible, but sometimes there isn't much else you can say ;)

Here's a line from a movie, Blade Runner I think....(re John) How can it not know what it is?
Magravan edit delete reply
He knows what he is... Just not who he was.. Or why he is the way that he is... And the fact that he's the only guy with a brain running around suggests it's something worth finding out :)

Look! Canned food!!

I bet the dried brain goo will add extra flavour!

YAY! I love gruesome/morbid comics! :D (as mine likely demonstrates).

I mean, TOGM was awesome before, but now it's just that little bit more awesome.

I can honestly say I did NOT see that coming.

@MarshmallowGherkin - It's nice to stir things up once in a while ;)

@Onecanofsprite - I'm glad... I thought that it would be too obvious considering the big deal he was making (and how often things turn out the way he hopes they will..)

Resident Evil is one of my favorite series, so I've sen worse ('Itchy Tasty' anyone?) John/Thomas should know he can't win by now, but he's coming out of it with a hidden bunker, a supply of food, and a name, which is more than he had before.
Magravan edit delete reply
Definitely! He's certainly better off than he was when he left the house, but I don't think he's going to appreciate that fact until he gets into the food ;)

Waaaait...does this mean we have to call him Thomas from now on?
(completely ignoring the brains splatted on the walls)

He's still John to me :)

As usual and awesome job. This one really wowed me. June your art is fantastic. James your story building to this point has been great. This seems like one of the start of an awesome finale. I agree about the whole "he's still John". He can find out whatever he "was" but who he "is" has without a doubt changed by being so close to Beth (the enemy?). Awesome job, keep it up!

@DW - Thanks! It's always nice to hear that people are enjoying the storyline :) Sometimes I worry that people only read it because of June's art ;)

@3.1 - I tried to write other stuff, but it just kept coming back to that.. Nothing else quite fit the mood of the scene ;)

Woo, shit just got heavy. Looks good you guys.
Magravan edit delete reply
Thanks ;D That seems like a nice note to leave John for a while, I think ;)

I bet he is a clone of thomas, the zombies are looking into cloning to create a self sustainable culture
Magravan edit delete reply
Certainly makes you wonder why Robert would be upset with Thomas, doesn't it? :)

Nice place ha has there now, once it's cleaned up of course, but the door is still open!!!
Magravan edit delete reply
Not a big fan of the Corpse decor, huh? Pity, it's standard is most post-zombie apocalypse shelters we've got.... We could give you one without the corpse, but ... that's extra. We'd have to send a cleaning lady in, and you know how that is... Very powerful union.. We'd have to make sure she got her scheduled breaks and lunch hour...

Now the trick is going to be getting him out :) This place seems to have covered a lot of his needs, so his desire to leave it probably going to be fairly low!

@Magravan @3.1
Why do you think I said it?!
snoog (Guest) edit delete reply
Hey I think the skeleton is John/Thomas's dad something about its face just looks similar to me. Personaly I can't believe I didn't guess he'd be dead I'm normaly good at things like that by the way I know it's petty but I suggested the clone theory weeks back long before the bunker just wanted to remind people if you don't believe me it was on june 11th the picture that's titled thank 108 and its right at the bottom of the page
Magravan edit delete reply
@3.1 - Sounded good at the time ;)

@snoog - Well, I'm glad that some people were surprised... But considering John's luck, yeah, it was almost inevitable ;)
