New week, new TOGM :) I say that now, because there's no guarantee that Thursday will be new TOGM. June's not feeling very well lately, and this one got finished before she started having her pains, so Thursday may or may not be a proper update, depending on how things go.

In the comic we see that John's going to get into the journal as a means of learning more about Ole Corpsey... And he changed! Woooo! The fact that he's only been through about maybe ... 3 or 4 outfits over the span of a year is kind of depressing ;)

For those of you who saw the poster that June made for the Jonathon Coulton concert we attended, I think this is what his shirt is modeled after.

If you read the alt-text, and you've ever seen a SAW movie, you know that Jigsaw is a bit of a jerk. I actually stopped watching them after 2 because it got to the point where it was more unpleasant than it was interesting.

I'm definitely not a 'torture porn' kind of movie-goer. I like psychological thrillers, or even slightly insane crap like The Ring, but watching people getting graphically chopped up doesn't do it for me. Anyways, complete tangent, I just wanted to throw it in because I was thinking of that as being a type of crazy you probably wouldn't want the guy who owned your shelter to be... :)

Oh, does anyone else read Weregeek? I was reading it today, and it's been good so far, but I'm still in 2008's archive. It's a good, geeky comic, and if you're a fan of geek culture, I'd recommend it (at least until 2008, can't guarantee it'll stay good..)

And on the note of geek culture, does anyone else really enjoy the "Too school for cool" line from P!nk's song Raise your Glass? I don't know why, but I thought that was a particularly clever line... I love the song, and I think that it's good to see geek culture standing up for itself...

Well, enough of the text wall.. Have a great week everyone, and we hope to have 111 waiting for you on Thursday. (Also, well wishes for June would not be unappreciated!)

Hi guys, and thank you Mo. I'm here for now, pried myself from the couch. I haven't been able to eat anything solid for seven days, and when I try, I get really, really bad stomach pains that last for hours. I'm heading to the emergency room tomorrow morning now that James is off from work. I hope they're able to fix me!

June will get well, I just ordered it.

Oh John, you did have some tough decisions to make. But y'know... you can always take a break later and watch Beth strip, then go back to reading.
Mechanik (Guest) edit delete reply
Wait... we're not supposed to be preparing for the zombie apocalypse?
ranger_brianna_new edit delete reply
Dang, I was hoping he'd go the other way... :P
More seriously, Plotz! We love it! :P
I, too, have seen the original, and read the plot summary for through five.
And, c'mon, everyone knows we should get ready for the upcoming apocalypse. Everyone. :P
Get well soon, June! (Hey, that rhymes... :P)
Magravan edit delete reply
@Skrael - We have the technology... Not necessarily the intelligence to use it, but .. you know...

@moizmad - Much appreciated :) Hopefully it gets delivered faster than these T-shirts :D

@bbedlam - For some reason that seems like it would taint the stripping goodness ;)

@Mechanik - If you've got video feeds all around the city wired up... you might be overprepared for the zombie apocalypse :)

@ranger_brian_new - I read some of the plot summaries on Wikipedia, but even that got to the point where it was like "Wow. This has just gotten to the point where they aren't even trying anymore. It's just an excuse to kill people in a gorey way. I'm surprised they haven't done 'But I'm his evil twin!' yet."

I'm ready in the sense that I accept that there are plenty of things that could kill me, but I'm damned sure that if it is the zombie apocalypse, it's going to be the initial volley, so I'm boned anyways.

Imagine being that poor bugger who was super prepared and then inhaled the zombie ... ashes from the incinerator?
Xenrin edit delete reply
@Magravan: Wait... you saw a Saw movie believing that it would be more interesting than unpleasant? :P
Those movies were pretty well designed to be unpleasant (not that I've seen them all, either).

@Skrael: "You will be [healthy]. Resistance is futile."
Jrade edit delete reply
I've got to say, John, there is such a thing as multi-tasking...

Skrael, get better soon. Otherwise, they'll have to remove your abdomen if it's causing you that much pain, and then you'd be under a metre tall, and nobody wants that.

So, yeah, hopefully you get better...you know, before that happens.
Hagelander (Guest) edit delete reply
zombie apocalypses are all about decisions,
you can sit in your bunker like a sissie and hope to survive
or you can grab a sword and die while having a jolly good time (because swords are more fun than guns)

make the world a better place, and kill at least 2 zombies before you become One

get better June, we need your awsome drawing skills for the wussies in the bunker, exept for porn they have nothing to do

Get well, Skrael. ^__^

yay back to our mysterious shelter boy!
@Skrael, I hope it is nothing serious and they can fix you up quickly! Feel better!

-pokes june, magically making her better-
but seriously i'm prayin for you.

reply to comic: plot advancement in my TOGM!? it's more likely than you think. i still demand the full video of beth stripping. but great joke in this one. hehe last panel is win. i do want to note something of a "glitch" thomas needed glasses previously (according to the phantom's picture)but does not need them now. does he know he needs them and thinks it'd be suspicious, or forgot he needs them?
PixieSingsBass edit delete reply
I'm lookin' forward to finding out what's in that journal! I've been waiting for more backstory on... well, everything, really.

Skrael, I'm sending you healing energy. Hope you recover quickly.
Magravan edit delete reply
@MarshmallowGherkin - Well, the first one wasn't quite as bad, and it was an interesting story..

@Jrade - Wow, with incentive like that.... :P

@Hagelander - Personally I'm impressed with the crossbow from Walking Dead :D

@Linden - Thanks :)

@MatthewJA - Thanks! Prevail over what, though? :)

@greengirl77 - All by himself! ... For now ;)

@model S - John would rather not die, so even if he needs them, he's going to wear contacts like a good little boy ;)

@PixieSingsBass - Yeah, the journal is our major means for in-continuity explanation regarding how things came about right now ;)
Salty edit delete reply
Oh, Weregeek? It is pretty good, yeah. I think it's stayed fairly consistent over the years.

Also, I should comment more. You're writing a great comic!
Magravan edit delete reply
Thanks Salty, I'm glad to see you're still reading :D

I still haven't gotten back to it (been busy with an online WoD campaign starting up), but it was an enjoyable read :)
Lunaroki edit delete reply
Skrael, we're all pulling for you! Have you tried jello or ginger ale for the stomach pains? They're about the easiest stuff for a stomach to take. But yes, definitely seek professional medical help quick! I seriously doubt turning into a zombie yourself would improve your art. :p

Magravan, you should definitely finish catching up on WereGeek. There's lots of good stuff still in store for you. :)
MatthewJA edit delete reply
Prevail against... me?
I'm totally rising up those charts.

Umm... in all seriousness you're pretty set. Oh, I know. Prevail against Bonejangles. Yeah, It's above you on the highly rated page.
Magravan edit delete reply
@Lunaroki - She was getting stomach pains on broth and popcicles... ;P She's going into the doctor again tomorrow for a procedure... I love socialized health care! :)

@MatthewJA - As much as I enjoy having the exposure from it, I do kind of miss watching the numbers catch up to other people ;)
MatthewJA edit delete reply
Live vicariously. For example, look at my comic! It's like, fourteenth.
I have exactly 1/3 subscribers as TOGM.
...wanna join them? XD
I'm just kidding. Well, not about the 1/3 thing, that's pretty cool.
How is Skrael btw? Better yet?
MaxThunder edit delete reply
... Then along comes me with the atonishing number of 3 subs... ... ... ... I'LL EAY YOUR FACE!!!
Vlasec (Guest) edit delete reply
Did the doctors learn what's wrong? I hope it's nothing serious. I don't know you, but I'm sure I would miss your pretty avatar as well as your notes. Also, I suppose even though you are the drawr', not the writtr', TOGM would suffer as well.
Skrael, I hope you will be okay soon :)
Magravan edit delete reply
@MatthewJA - Sadly, no she's not. She did ink the next comic for me quickly, so we'll have something to put up, but she's in the hospital again today, and has to schedule another visit within 10 days of this one for more stuff...

Hopefully after that she'll be doing better...

@MaxThunder - Yeah, but how long have you been at Comicfury? We've been there over a year, of course we're going to have more subs...

When we first started, we were ecstatic when we got a couple visitors a day, now we've got a fair reader base... It's all about time and dedication to your work and to the readers...
Hagelander (Guest) edit delete reply
please tell us when you know why our favorite artist is in hospital?

she can't die yet!! the means to give her a second (un)live aren't available yet and she hasn't delivered rule34 on beth yet!!
(ok, she hopefuly isn't in a critical condition, so death isn't likely, but you get the drift)

and I didn't lie about the favorite artist ;)
Magravan edit delete reply
@Vlasec - If June wasn't able to do TOGM anymore, we'd basically have a couple of strips done by someone else ending the comic. I mean, a brief hiatus MIGHT be the case, but if she was completely done, I think the comic would just wrap up and call it a day.

As much as she wants to claim that she's just the illustrator, this story is as much hers as it is mine, and I don't think I would want to do it without her.

@Hagelander - She's out now, but I'll leave her to explain what's up.
Skrael (I'm the artist)
Hi guys, here's a quick update about what's been going on. About two weeks ago I had some horrible stomach pain that lasted 8 hours. It was some of the worst pain I'd ever felt. Then I was fine for a week. Then on Sunday night I had the pain again, so bad I was almost crying. That lasted 6 hours.

The next day, I couldn't eat anything without the horrible pain hitting me within about two bites of food. So I stopped eating solid. I seemed ok with liquids like juice, broth, popsicles and apple sauce. Eventually, even they caused me agony, so I switched to just water. I went almost 9 days with no food.

I went to the ER to see wtf was going on. They were to great with me. Tests showed that I had gallstones, and that my liver function tests were very abnormal. A gastroenterologist was called in to consult, and he booked an ERCP for the next morning(today)

I had my (minor surgery) ERCP today, and they removed gallbladder sludge from the duct that was basically effecting my liver. I just got out around 10:00 this morning. I was in pain for a bit, but I am a lot better now. I am drinking an apple juice and it tastes like crazy sweet!

My second surgery to remove the gallbladder itself will be on December 10th. This should put me all back to normal within a few weeks! Yay!

I've had trouble from stomach pain for the last year or more. My family doc is stupid. Insisted it was Acid Reflux, H.Pylori, IBS. Wehn I saw her last week and told her that every time I ate I got a really bad stomach pain that lasted for hours, she didn't even examine me! Didn't ask questions, dismissed my volunteered information, wrote a script for Nexium and walked out the door on me. Sheesh!
drivinallnight (Guest) edit delete reply
Good to hear the artist is doing better, too bad it sounds like you need to find a new doctor, but like you said, your getting better, so YEAH for that :)
snoog (Guest) edit delete reply
Hey skreal sorry to hear about your stomach problems. Hope there able to fix it.

Anyway still really enjoying TOGM and its nice to see a bit of John again. So based on the last strip the phantom obviously knows a lot or at least he thinks he does. My theory is that John created TOGM and robert is takilng the credit either that or he somehow uses his dna. I've got a lot more to say but I'll stop yesterday I was snowed in so I wrote a huge comment for this site but apparently it was too much and I lost everything. Oh well I shouldn't talk so much. Feel better see ya
Magravan edit delete reply
@drivinallnight - Thank you ;)

@snoog - I've found that I lose a couple things as well. If it's a really long post, I tend to copy it first, so I can just paste it in if it messes up.. Of course, I forget when it's a particularly good post :D
Hagelander (Guest) edit delete reply
I'm surprised that he is reading the diary, is he turning gay?
Hagelander (Guest) edit delete reply
and I'm glad you're going to be alright.
If it feels like the worst pain possible and it comes out of your belly the chances are huge that it is gallstones, drink more water from now on!!

and removing the gallbladder? there is a reason a human is born with one, isn't it kinda drastic to remove it?
Jrade edit delete reply
Good to hear that you'll get better...aren't you glad it didn't cost you thousands of dollars?

I've never had gallstones, so I can't really say much about that...I guess I'm just left with get better soon, then!
Magravan edit delete reply
@Hagelander - No, he definitely is not ;) And humans are born with a lot of things we don't really need anymore. I, for one, could do without facial hair ;P Work wont let me have it, June doesn't like mustaches... No point in being able to grow it and having to shave it off all the time...

@Jrade - Sooo very glad :D I love my country in general, but this is like icing on the cake :D

As for the shirt - I didn't get a chance to send it out yet, sorry :( I'll see if I can find some time on Friday or the weekend.
Curator edit delete reply
holy cow skrael, I would seriously consider suing your Dr, that is gross negligence on his/her part...

As far as the gall bladder goes, its something people definitely needs, its how you produce bile, so you can digest your food... without, digestion is much more difficult for your body...so yeah, your gonna have to start drinking ALLOT of veggie/fruit smoothies, and stay near a toilet till you get used to your new crap schedule! ( childhood friend of mine had to have his removed, this advice is from him after I called him.)
model S (Guest) edit delete reply
@june: i had gallstones and they are the suck. i had my gallbladder out. it's not that bad, minus the scars. but no kidding "back to normal in a few weeks" is long, i was out of the hospital in 2 days. -hugs june all better-
greengirl77 (Guest) edit delete reply
My mother, three aunts, my sister, my cousin and one of my best friends all had their gall bladders out. I hope you feel better soon. You are going to be a bit sore but you should be right as rain as soon as your sugery heals. Not to be nit-picky but the gall bladder does not produce bile, it stores what your liver makes. Once it starts getting infected, malfucntioned or diseased the best course of action is to remove it. Our bodies are amazing, we can adjust to a lot of missing parts!
greengirl77 (Guest) edit delete reply
sorry about my typos I am terrible at typing today!
MatthewJA edit delete reply
Hooray! In just a few weeks you'll be right as rain! Why is rain right, anyway? That doesn't make sense.

Hooray! In just a few weeks, you'll be as right as a 90 degree angle!
Hagelander (Guest) edit delete reply
oh no!!
hmmm . . . very right in a few weeks? . . . far-right . . . SH&T!!!!
please don't turn into a nazi-zombie!!!

hmm, I think I'm slowly losing what's left of my sanity, let's blame the internet for it
Magravan edit delete reply
@Curator - I hate to say it, but it's something of the norm these days... It feels like they never have time to actually look at you and do a proper job, even if you have an appointment...

@model S - Well, she might be out of the hospital that night... Just no guarantees about how capable she'll be :)

@greengirl77 - The human body is pretty impressive! It's got redundancies for lots of things...

@MatthewJA - Not sure, but I'm sure it's on the internet somewhere... Where the phrase originated...

@Hagelander - ... I stop looking at the page for a bit and we've devolved to nazi references? :P
