Hey guys! Hope you had a great weekend.. I'm really looking forward to the week ahead, so hopefully you guys are too... :)

140... We're getting into the final stretch for this portion of the story! Expect a few major points to come up in 150 that will give an incline where the story is going in Book 3 :) Weeeeee! I realize that this is not as exciting as kicking butt or things of that nature, but we're addressing John's strange brain again...

Before you say "That's stupid. If he's so smart, he should realize that it's in Reverse.", I should probably mention that this was sort of based on me trying to learn to drive with my dad. I was very nervous, and working the gear shift at the same time as the pedals... Just try to imagine the most intimidating driving tester / instructor you can possibly imagine, and then add on the fact that I'd have to face him again for the rest of my life...

Yeah, I choked. Granted, this was a long time ago, but I think I almost stalled the car or something, and took a while to get started at a green light... John's trying to impress Beth, and not paying as much attention to things as he should be :D

So asides from that, I have to say, I'm really enjoying the visual changes to the comic, and we picked up some books from the library about different things regarding comic creation, so I think that you might see some changing of the comic in the near future. :)

Oh, Comicfury is banding together to try to get TOGM into the top 100 of Top Webcomics (Vote link)... I don't think it's going to happen this month, but if you've got some spare moments, we'd appreciate the help.

Thanks guys, have a great week and we'll see you on Thursday!

I absolutely loved painting the car, and spent far longer than I should have on it.

I also loved drawing Beth in this one. So cute!

I've been reading Scott McCloud's "Making Comics" It's VERY informative. I'm liking it a lot. I recommend this to any one. I've especially learned a lot from the sections on "moment" and "framing" so far.

Small suggestion...the vote tab is so tiny on your page, I have to look really hard to find it. Can you make it bigger maybe? Perhaps? ...
I wear glasses!

I'm going to have to give "Making Comics" a read :D

Heh, I have that book. It was a nice read. :)

Great job on this one, S. Looking back from #1 to this strip, it's gotten so good, I can scarcely wait to see the next one. Hope my guess at the plot comes true before too awful long...

To help get TOGM into the top 100 you should offer boobs as an incentive. That will get people motivated. xD

That hair is awesome. This is awesome. Both of you are awesome.

High five Skrael!

Yay James, you made me laugh. :D

Skrael, outdid yourself on this one... oh, Mag, you did pretty swell for yourself too :)

@greengirl77 - I'm horrible with page design... I would say "I guess it's good that you aren't being bothered by it", but the site is so ugly that it's hard to say that :D I did change the text above to include a link ;)

@Sarge - I'm on Understanding Comics, because it's the earlier one... And so far I'm not really impressed... There's a lot of stuff that he's taken a lot of time to say, when he could have gotten through most of it within two or three pages... But I guess it was written for someone who hasn't already put some thought into this sort of thing... But I am definitely looking forward to Making Comics, since it will probably be more relevant to my interests in having picked them up in the first place :)

@ranger_brian_new - I like the presentation, but it's too meandering for me :D "Different amounts of time happen between the gutters. There is an understanding that time has passed, and the reader will accept that so long as you make the transition as smooth as possible." There you go, that's like 20 pages in this book :P

@alparrott - It has definitely made leaps and bounds in improvement art-wise... I thought it was well drawn when we started out, but it's become soooo much better now.

And which guess was that?

@Demus - Hahaha :) The trick is to get there without having to call the comic "NSFW" :)

@Jrade - Thank you, I know June put some thought into making sure the hair went the right way :)

@Fragmented - It's funny how the ones that I think aren't very good are the ones I tend to get complimented on... I'm starting to think that I don't know what I'm doing, and just getting lucky :D

@the_brigand - Well thank you :) I thought June's art really did wonders for this one :)

That made me laugh for more than I thought possible... Was sitting here, drinkin' me some caffiene and bam REVERSE HE GOES! I knew he'd mess up somehow, just wasn't sure that would be the way he'd mess up. XD

But yeah, it happens to all of us atleast once just gotta play it cool and be all "I meant to do that, just that awesome..." xD

And yeah the visual changes are noticeable for sure, appealing as ever. Change is always good aha.

Anyways, I should probably comment more since it's amazing, but the lazyness overwhelms me most the time lol.

We're just glad to hear from you once in a while, Sya :) You, Shorty, BigAuto, and Greatness are probably the most positive memories I have from that game... But thank you, I know that I think that the art is definitely improving, but it's great that other people agree with me. Sometimes I'm afraid I have rose coloured glasses on for June's work.

When I was 18, I took my girlfriend to her school's prom and was so nervous that when we got to the valet parking, I forgot to put the car in park before I started to get out of the car. So yeah.

Nice job both of you, particularly with the motion in panel 4, Skrael.

@Magravan: By incentive I meant that if the fans help enough to get the comic into the top 100, they would get a bonus picture of one of the lovely ladies of TOGM. I know of a couple of other comics that have done something similar and have been quite successful.

.... i did that too... except there wasn't a hot redhead glaring at me sexily. tom is a lucky bastard and i'm jealous of him.
Onecanofsprite edit delete reply
I guess you could say he was...
...Dead right.
Magravan edit delete reply
@Kevin - So long as the Valet was quick, no problem :D

@Robotwin.com - I thought so too :)

@ScottanimoBay - She puts lot of work into the little details like that sometimes :)

@Demus - I guess we'll see what the future holds, but I don't think I want to go down the 'bribing people with nudity' road...

@model S - Tom is not very lucky, actually. If you consider the whole situation, I would say he's actually pretty unlucky :)

@Onecanofsprite - You could, yes :P

I've got a minor annoyance with another comic right now. Mainly, that Mushroom Go is actively asking for subscribers just to beat you guys. Seriously? He's getting people to sign up to Comic Fury for the SOLE purpose that they subscribe to him. Good comics get their subscribers naturally, not beg for them.
Magravan edit delete reply
That's one way to look at it. Another way (which is the way I'm choosing to look at it), is that he's taking people he gained from Project Wonderful and getting them to join Comicfury. If they never look at anything else ever again, then oh well. But they might start looking at other things which benefit the community as a whole, right?

As for being 'beaten', I have to say that I would kind of enjoy having the target off our backs. It was a fun competition back when we were competing with LKS and 2G. I think we could all be accused of begging for subs during that time, but it was all in good fun.

Nowadays, I don't see it as a competition, just an advertising source. So I don't mind if someone passes us. And hopefully in passing us, he brings more people to Comicfury to check out the great comics there :)

I think that the ideal situation is that he passes us, people see that independent advertising and then asking for subscribers gets results, and Comicfury gets a lot more users as a result. Whether or not we're on the top of the list is somewhat irrelevant, and really only in the best interests of myself and June.

Also, if you haven't read Mushroom Go, you should check it out. It really is a well done comic.
